Kilobots Canadian National Championship 2024!

This is the big one! The Kilobots Canadian National Championships for 2024 will once again be held in Calgary, Alberta at the TELUS Spark Science Centre. Teams from across Canada and the United States will go head to head to etch their name on the Kilobots Cup! Registration for all classes is already filling up quickly, register today to secure your spot at the best event all year!

When: August 17-18, 2024
Where: TELUS Spark Science Centre – Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Prizes: Plenty! Plus unique custom trophies!

Classes: 150g, 1lb, 3lb.  *Kilobots events run the Antweight Rookie class alongside the Antweight Masters, and Nationals is no exception.  If you are still new to combat robotics, you are welcome to register in this class for a level playing field.

Community: Discord – Introduce yourself and chat about the event and what everyone is bringing!  Locals are happy to help with picking accommodations and recommending things-to-see while in Calgary. (I recommend the zoo!)

Kilobots 56 – July 6-7, 2024

July 6 and 7 will be our annual Saskatoon BBQ fundraiser event.  Held at FingerTech HQ (20 – 3111 Millar Ave), this event is open to the public to spectate and enjoy our BBQ fundraiser.  10am-5pm both days.  Come enjoy hotdogs, burgers, sodas, and robots smashing each other!
Funds from the BBQ will go back into the club to help with arena repairs and improvements.

Kilobots 54 and 55 registrations are open!

We’ve got a double-whammy this year.  The Calgary Maker Faire is happening on the same weekend as the Saskatoon Entertainment Expo, so there will be TWO Kilobots events happening at the same time!
(We are hoping to display Calgary’s livestream on a TV on top of the Saskatoon arena so we can all watch together!)

It gets cold in Saskatchewan in January and many of us require a good excuse to leave our basements. Well, here is a great excuse! Dust off your old bots. Build something new. Bring them to Kilobots 53.

Kilobots 52 – The Paradox

Have you figured out your upgrades for Nationals? Do you need an extra test to make sure you design is viable? Do you crave bot parts and scrap metal?
Well I have an announcement for you!
Kilobots 52 and BBQ!
Yea you read me right! This one day event will be happening Saturday July 15th 2023 at the Fingertech headquarters for a fight to see who can take home the test data for nationals, but also the Prizing AND Pogs up for grabs.
What? A one day event isn’t worth the drive? You need even more test data than that? Well don’t you worry!
On Sunday July 16th we will be having a secondary mini tournament with some smaller prizing up for grabs! Don’t have enough bot left to destroy or have all the data you need? Well don’t you worry! Come anyway and enjoy our BBQ fundraiser (Hotdogs & Burgers) and chat with your fellow builders on ideas, improvements and repairs that you can make. Funds from the BBQ will go back into the club to help with arena repairs and make future events even better!
Don’t feel in the mood to compete? Just want to come and help out or hang out? Feel free! We always need an audience and it would be wonderful to have volunteers to man the camera angles or help with judging!
We’re hoping to make this the biggest event we can, and to try and bring together as much of the local community as possible both old and new. This community is a great one and while we have all been or are going through tough times, this community is one that looks out for each other and after being isolated for so long its time to reconnect.
So while its a little paradoxical, let’s make this bot family reunion of an event a great one!

KILOBOTS IS EXPANDING!

?? KILOBOTS IS EXPANDING! ??

We are very excited to announce that Kilobots is expanding into other Canadian provinces!

A bit of restructuring has been happening behind the scenes:

  • “Kilobots” is no longer just the event name, “Kilobots Combat Robot Events” is now the main body that holds events across the country.
  • The SCRC (previously Saskatoon Combat Robotics Club) is now SKRC Kilobots (Saskatchewan Robot Combat) to fit the new naming scheme.
  • We are proud to announce the newly created ABRC Kilobots (Alberta Robot Combat) and soon-to-be BCRC Kilobots (British Columbia Robot Combat).
  • Kilobots is funding new arena builds in each of those provinces so that our combat robot events can be held across Canada. All arenas will be built to the same high standard as the original, with unique twists/hazards in each.
  • Each province will have its own Facebook page for provincial event news, with this website (www.Kilobots.com) remaining the main hub for all news.

Event News:

  • We have been invited to entertain the crowds at Sask Entertainment Expo, happening April 29- May 1.  Come check us out, watch some destruction, and maybe drive a robot yourself!
  • Calgary is the first new event to be added to the Kilobots event family!  Matt and Brian have been hard at work preparing the event and arena to be ready for Maker Faire Calgary on May 14-15, 2022.  Find it on the Events page.  Let’s make it a homerun!
  • Our very own FingerTech Robotics has a new Headquarters and will have the Saskatoon arena permanently set up for events and off-season testing!
  • KILOBOTS LIVE 2022!  The annual Canadian National Championship will be held during this event.  It’s going to be big, colorful, loud, and exciting!  With prizes for Most Entertaining Robots, you are sure to have a blast!
